Tarangire National Park

Covering an area of approximately 2,850 square kilometres and located just a few hours’ drive from the town, Tarangire National Park is a lovely, quiet park in Northern Tanzania. It is a most popular stop for its wildlife, birding, breath-taking views and authentic safari atmosphere.

The name of Tarangire National Park comes from “Tarangire River”, which is the main source of water, supporting the wildlife and different vegetation. With the terrific massive baobab trees, the landscape of Tarangire is an exclusive one as compared to other parks in the country.

A safari to Tarangire National Park boasts large herds of elephant and buffalo, and an amazing concentration of big cats, which make it one of the best National Parks of Tanzania. The most commonly seen animals are elephants, giraffes, wildebeests, impalas, warthogs, zebras, dwarf mongoose and ostriches. Lions, as well as leopards and on some rare wild dogs have been spotted here.

Additionally, the park is also home to 550 species of birds and the greater and lesser Kudus as well as oryx also roam the park. The yellow-apprehended lovebirds, Kori- bustards, stocking-thighed ostrich, and hornbills are the most famous birds.
